Wilma Scearce Foltz, our cherished "Ganny", passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2022, at the age of 95. She leaves behind a family that adored everything about her...her strength, her infinite wisdom, her independence, her wit, her raspy voice, her contagious laugh, and especially the perfect way she made each one of us feel so incredibly loved. Our angel on earth!
Wilma was born in Danville, Virginia, and was the third of six children born to Chris and Rosa Collins. After marrying the love of her life, Troy Scearce, in 1947, Troy re-joined the Army and the newly married couple embarked on a lifetime of adventure, living at military bases all over the world. After a long military career as an officer, including serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII, Troy retired from the Army in 1966 and they decided to make Orlando, Florida their forever home.
After losing Troy 44 years ago, Wilma is survived by her son, Roger Scearce (Debbie), daughters Sandra Simmons (Gary) and Pam Hutsell (Keith), sister, Rachel Merricks and grandchildren Stacey Clarke (Kenny), Steve Simmons (Stacey), Kym Shutley, Brian Scearce (Laura), Lauren Hutsell and Abby Hutsell. Wilma was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren (Kendall, Hunter, Shelby, Kasey, Colton, Cooper, Gradin and Jordan).
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
