Wilma "Betty" Bess Henderson Erwin of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully at home on February 21st, 2025. Betty was born in Bartow, Florida on August 11th, 1924 to Aaron Davis and Willie Irene Henderson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas C. Erwin, her son, Bobby, her sister-in-law, Rachel, and five of her siblings: Buck, Kenny, Dova, Dell, and Elwood. She is survived by her sister, Thelda Rae, her nine remaining children: Rozzie, David, Jerry, Nancy, Kathy, Tom, Jim, John Michael, and Tim, as well as her eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Betty was very active in her youth. She enjoyed roller skating, "jumpboard," and basketball (despite her short stature). Later on, Betty worked as a radio station operator in Gainesville, Florida before marrying on March 1st, 1945. After the birth of her ten children, and the passing of her husband in 1968, Betty best became known for her role as the head of the neighborhood daycare - a loving shepherd for the children of Conway. Betty's favorite pastimes included tending to her garden, birdwatching, and frequent coffee dates with her neighbors, family, and friends.
Sweet and selfless, Betty was adored by everyone who knew her. Even after an incredible 100 years, she will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Ministers of Consolation at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Betty's memory to support their longstanding outreach.
