Vincent Benedetti

March 1, 1923 — December 27, 2016

Vincent Paul "Benny" Benedetti passed away December 27, 2016, at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Arline Conoley Benedetti, six children and ten grandchildren. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Vince enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and in 1944 married 4th generation Floridian Arline. A WWII veteran, Vince was a Pearl Harbor volunteer. He is a graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park. He retired with 37 years service as a sonar physicist with the Naval Research Laboratory Fort Gatlin. The Benedetti's are long-time members of St. James Cathedral in downtown Orlando. Vince was an avid gardener and member of the National Dahlia Society, a multi-sport athlete, a chosen scientist who witnessed the first rocket shot at Cape Canaveral, a graduate of the U.S. Navy Diving School in Key West and a published author. He enjoyed restoring homes with Arline, fishing, UF Gators football, natural and Native American history and classical music.
