Loved by all who knew him, Vernon Thomas Brady, heart transplant recipient of ten years, breathed his last at home February 24, 2016, after a brave fight with cancer. Born January 12, 1947, he was 69. He grew up in Atlanta, GA, enjoyed science, and graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Masters in Physics. His first job at Georgia Tech's Engineering Experiment Station began a 35 year career in electrical engineering, work he loved. Vernon also held positions at Motorola, Scottsdale, AZ and most recently at Lockheed Martin, Orlando.
Vernon served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force which enabled him to meet the woman he later married just weeks before his discharge from the service. June 9, 1974, he married Debra Whitcomb in Homestead, KS. He was a devoted husband and uncle, loved a great meal and classic cars. He easily engaged anyone in conversation in a way that they knew he cared about them. He was the "go to guy" for problem solving.
Vernon cherished his wife and his family roots in Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Debra, and his brother, Richard Brady (Susan) of Kennesaw, GA, aunts and uncles, many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. His parents preceded him in death; father in 1980 and mother in 2015.
Because Vernon was able to enjoy 10 more years of life as the result of a heart transplant, we welcome your contributions to Donate Life America in lieu of flowers. It is a non-profit alliance committed to increasing organ, eye and tissue donation. http://donatelife.net/
