Verle "Nana" Martin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Verle Margaret Martin, who departed this world on December 13, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. She was 83 years old.

Verle was born on July 28, 1940, in Easthampton, MA, to Clarence and Pauline Doughty. She grew up in Massachusets on a farm with 11 siblings, and loved telling the story about refusing to drink fresh cow milk from the farm, and never drank milk to this day. 

At 18 years old, Verle married Francis Anthony Martin Jr., and together they created a life full of love, laughter, and shared experiences. They had 4 children, Francis Martin III, Cory Martin, Wendy Martin, and Shelia Martin. Verle dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren, and homemaking. Something Verle loved more than anything was her grandchildren, Tara Martin, Heather Martin, Savannah Martin, Mackenzie Martin, Fontana Walters, and Lilly Martin, as well as her 2 great-grandchildren, Camille Reyes, and Jouqiun Reyes Jr. 

Verle was a member of the Merrit Island Women's Club as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the FRA. 

Verle was known for her glamorous and polished fashion style; staples being anything leopard print, "bling-bling," high heels, and white bleach-blonde hair. Verle took pride in caring for her beautiful homes throughout the years, where you could catch her putting around in her garden, making sure the bird baths had fresh water, her white fence was clean, and trees were trimmed. When she wasn't outside, Verle loved enjoying company at her kitchen table, chatting over a fresh pot of coffee. 

Verle touched the lives of many with her generosity, playful sense of humor, and outgoing and welcoming energy, making anyone feel as if they had known her for a long time. 

A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2023 at Carry Hand Colonial Funeral Home. Friends, family, and beloved neighbors are invited to gather and remember Verle's life and legacy.

May Verle rest in peace, and may the memories of her remarkable life bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
