Timothy Ewing

Timothy Robert Ewing, 72, of Orlando, FL, passed away on Friday evening, October 16, 2020, at his home surrounded by his immediate family.  Tim was born on May 25, 1948, in Titusville, PA, to Robert and Pauline Ewing.  He attended schools in Pleasantville and Titusville, PA, and served in the Army from May 1968 to May 1970 which comprised two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Tim was a great auto/truck mechanic.  He began his career after returning from Vietnam and worked at Jones Brothers Dealership in Titusville, PA.  After moving to Florida, he worked for John Lamb Chevrolet and Don Mealey Chevrolet.  In the mid-80s, Tim took a chance and opened Ewing’s Garage where his advertisement was mostly by “word of mouth” and serviced cars and trucks.  After 8 years, he decided to close the shop and opened Ewing’s Towing, where he found his “niche” hauling cars for small, independent car dealerships and transporting for the Auto Auction in Ocoee.

Tim loved and enjoyed his “big boy toys” and always credited his brother-in-law, Rodger, for giving him a ride in his 1932, 2-door Ford Sedan with a Chevy Engine and letting him rev it up which started his love for anything automotive.  His “toys” over the years were comprised of race cars, dune buggies, Jeeps, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and antique cars.  His most recent projects included a 1929 Ford Model A that was chopped, completely rebuilt, and painted a bright Chevrolet Orange with grey interior.  Tim was in the midst of completing a 1964 Chevrolet Malibu, that was stripped and rebuilt, and close to being finished.

Tim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Michal O’Neill Ewing, their two wonderful and dedicated children, Tim and Carreena, one beautiful granddaughter, Caydence, and two sisters, Nancy Zook (Steve), Cindy Schessler and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Aunts/Uncles who will miss him dearly.   He was predeceased by his parents, Robert & Pauline Ewing; his brothers, Rodney & Tom; and his sisters, Joanne, Anita, and Connie.

A Celebration of Life for Tim will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at VFW Post 2093, in Orlando, FL.  The Honor Guard and Presentation of the Flag will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a social gathering in the Large Hall of VFW Post 2093.
