Thurman Batchelor

Thurman R. Batchelor, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on December 4, 2013. Thurman was born on December 5, 1926 in Kershaw, South Carolina to Seborn Edward Batchelor and Mary Murray Batchelor. He was the eighth of thirteen children. He served in the 3rd Marine Division where he participated in the liberating of Guam, Bouganville and Iwo Jima. After serving his country, Thurman returned to the Orlando area and joined Southern Bell where he retired after 37 years of dedicated service in December of 1983. In 1949 Thurman married Mannette Mitzi Price and together they raised 3 sons, Lawrence Edward Ren, Thomas Rodney Faith and Brian Keith Sally. Thurman is preceded in death by his parents and 9 of his siblings. Thurman is survived by his wife Mitzi, sons Larry, Tom and Brian, three younger brothers, Beck, Bill and Ray, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, at 10am, Saturday, December 7, 2013. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
