Thomas Noble Snyder was born on June 5, 1919 in Crown Point, Indiana to the Reverend Mr. Dorsie Emmett and Elsie Bell (nee Noble) Snyder. He lived in Price Hill and Saylor Park in Cincinnati, Ohio; Johnson City, Tennessee; and finally, Milford, Ohio where he graduated from Milford High School (Class of 1937). He attended the Ohio State University and worked his way through school at Kroger's Grocery store. After graduation from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in December,1941, Tom started work for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio as a purchasing agent.
He enlisted in the US Army in May of 1943 and was assigned to Ft Eustace, Virginia for basic training. He attended Officer Candidate School and was sent overseas to serve in France, Germany and the Philippines during World War II. He separated from active duty on July 5, 1946 as a Captain.
He returned to Proctor and Gamble in 1946 and married his college sweetheart, Dorothy Lucille Hill, on June 22, 1946. They settled in Cincinnati where they were the parents of three children. The family traveled all over the United States and Canada during summer vacations.
Tom and Dottie square danced for many years. The family attended Church weekly and Tom taught an adult Sunday School Class for a number of years. He was elected to the School Board when his children were young and played an integral role in the building of the Junior High school where his children attended.
He retired from Proctor and Gamble after 36 years, after which he and Dottie traveled extensively, visiting Europe many times, Hong Kong, India, Canada, Alaska and Australia.
Active in the community, he and Dottie volunteered at Providence Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels. They purchased a house in Ocala, Florida and came down here "two weeks before the first snowfall" in Cincinnati, each year for a number of years. They finally decided to make Ocala their permanent home, although they continued to travel as long as their health was good.
