Thomas K. Mauldin, Jr., 87, returned to his heavenly home on November 30, 2015. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his illness and ultimately gave him peace. Thomas was born to the late Thomas and Gladys Mauldin in Atlanta, GA on September 22, 1928. He was raised in a Christian home and was involved in Air Scouts and Civil Defense as a young man. He entered military service with the US Navy and served 4 years during the Korean War. After serving our country, he returned to Georgia Technical Institute to complete his education. He was employed as a branch manager for Brownell Electro Inc., and worked as a Correctional Officer for the State of Florida before retiring. Active in Delaney Street Baptist Church, he served as Sunday School Director and deacon for several years. Thomas was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Diane M. Harrison on April 15, 1954 in Pasadena, CA. Thomas helped raise their 4 children with patience, discipline and humility. From the beginning he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to look to him for guidance in their daily lives. His faith in God influenced his son, Doug, and grandson, Heath, to become ministers. Thomas is survived by his wife, Diane; his children Wayne and Cathy Mauldin, Doug and Kim Mauldin, Teresa Mauldin, Colleen and Kevin Dewise; his grandchildren, Heath and Jennifer Mauldin, Seth Mauldin, Kylee and Andrew Smith, Keaton and Morgan Mauldin, Dalton, Cade and Rylan Dewise; great granddaughter Mackenzie Smith; brother M.F. Mauldin and sister Vesta Harshman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys Mauldin. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 4 from 6pm-8pm, at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL, The funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 5, at Delaney Street Baptist Church, 1919 Delaney Avenue, Orlando, FL, with a reception to follow at the church. Thomas will be buried with a graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 2:30pm.
