Thomas Frank Black was only 73 years old when he was called home by the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017. He and his wife Sandra, celebrated 40 wonderful years together in May. Their family includes their two loving sons, Tom and Ryan, and their wives Jesteen and Jessica, who are the daughters they always wanted. Thomas and Haylee, their grandchildren, took up the majority of Tom's photo gallery on his phone. "Papa" adored them! Tom was raised with his sister, Mary, in Cicero, Illinois by their parents, Tom and Marion Black. After high school, Tom went to Iowa where he graduated from Drake University. Tom then served his country in the Army for two years in Vietnam. Upon his return, he began a 45-year career in retail management, where he touched and sometimes changed lives of those around him. An avid fisherman and a Chicago Cubs fan, Tom and his wife enjoyed hours together but family always came first. Tom loved, and was loved unconditionally. He lived his faith, a prayer warrior for many, and a godly example for all.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Orlando, 3000 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando FL 32805 in Henry Chapel at 2:00pm.
A time of gathering will follow the service at Tom and Sandra's home in Orlando FL. Everyone is welcome as we celebrate a life lived well.
Tom's favorite charities were St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Samaritan's Purse in Lieu of flowers.
