Thelma Ruth Corthell was born in Deland, FL to Herman Ahlheit and Norma Richardson. She was known for being funny, lively and mischievous.
Ruth eventually moved to Orlando and worked at a pizza parlor near Ohio State University. While there, a physics professor that Ruth served hired her and taught her how to repair circuit boards. Ruth leveraged this knowledge into an engineering job in aviation. Ruth worked in aviation for many years and helped found Aircraft Engineering and Installation Services.
Ruth was funny, outgoing, energetic, compassionate and loving. Aunt Ruthie was loved by many and will be missed. She is survived by her two children; John and Lindsey, her mother Norma, her sisters, Karen, Betty and Judy, her nieces Britney, Ariel and Jessie and her grandchildren Lillian and Jacob.
A Gathering of Friends for Ruth is scheduled for Thursday, January 21st from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida, 32806. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled immediately following the gathering at 2:00 PM.
