The Reverend Samuel R. Knieriem, 91, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, February 5th, 2016. Born in Meyersdayle, Pennsylvania to Ray W. and Alice (Lint) Knieriem on June 2, 1924. Samuel was one of five boys: Paul, Irvin, Eugene and Bill Knierem and his wife Evelyn who still resides on the Knieriem estate in Meyersdale to this day. In his teens Samuel was employed on one of the Hershey dairy farms for two years as a houseparent. He was in charge of a strict schedule of herding, feeding and milking the cows but was also responsible for the daily maintenance of the farms and the other employees. Later, Samuel heard his Lord call to him and he became an ordained minister. He was instrumental in guiding, mentoring and assisting other gentlemen to their path to the Lord as well. He relocated to Central Florida where he was employed with the Orlando Utilities Commission as a power plant worker. He assisted in Highland, Florida as well as the Santon Energy Center until his retirement . A gathering of friends for Samuel is scheduled for Friday, February 12th from 2 to 3 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida 32806. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled immediately following the gathering at 3:00 PM, with committal services at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando to follow.
