Sergio Figueroa

Sergio J. Figueroa, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.

Sergio is survived by his loving wife Corliss Figueroa; his son Sergio and daughter-in-law Veronica; his daughter Sarah and soon-to-be son-in-law Jeffery Bowers; his sister Carolina Figueroa; his brother Edmundo Figueroa; and his four beautiful granddaughters Josephine, Victoria, Alexandra, and Isabella Figueroa.

Sergio was born on July 4, 1951, in Mexico City, and graduated with his Masters degree in Engineering. In Mexico, he met his wife, Corliss, who was studying abroad. Sergio and Corliss moved back to the U.S. to Pittsburgh, PA after they were married, but soon moved to Florida to escape the harsh winters--per Sergio's request.

Sergio has been a Conway resident since 1984. He worked as an engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation for 30 years where he was responsible for constructing multiple roadways and bridges throughout the Orlando area. He enjoyed watching and attending ALL sporting events but particularly found joy in watching his children excel at baseball (Sergio) and gymnastics (Sarah). He loved listening to rock music on a daily basis. Many did not know, but he was a talented electric guitarist in a band called Rubber Soul in his college years. Any opportunity Sergio got, he and Corliss grabbed their beach chairs and headed to the beach. He truly cherished every moment spent with his family. He especially loved his granddaughters who enjoyed using "Papi" as their own personal jungle gym.

Sergio, "Serge," "Dad," "Papi," "Pops" will be greatly missed by his entire family, numerous friends, and the many people who experienced his extraordinary kindness, his humor, and his dependability.

A memorial service will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church (4545 Anderson Road, Orlando, Florida, 32812) at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 11th, 2021, with a gathering to follow at the residence of Sergio and Corliss Figueroa
