Sara Thompson

Sara Brewer Thompson, 90, Orlando, passed away March 7, 2022.  She was born December 26, 1931 to Ralph Bingham Brewer and Edith Bentley Brewer of Winter Haven, Florida.  She graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1949.  She attended college at Florida State University where she met her husband of 59 years, Carl L. Thompson, Jr.  She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and Child Development.  She was a member of many campus organizations including the Kappa Delta Social Sorority and FSU’s Village Vamps, the student hostesses of the college.  She taught school in Gainesville, Florida while her husband, Carl, attended law school.  She taught at Dover Shores Elementary School in Orlando for 27 years.  She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church, Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers’ Sorority, Orlando Garden Club Lake Silver Shores Circle, and the Orlando Chapter of DAR.  She loved teaching, gardening, travel, and American history, especially the history of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Thompson, Jr., in 2011 and her son, Stephen B. Thompson in 2013.  She is survived by her daughter Jean K. Thompson of Orlando and her dear cousins and friends.  A graveside service will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11:00AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 26 Willow Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32807.
