Ruth Tarbox

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth W. Tarbox, age 79, of Longwood, FL., who passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 11AM  in the Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation for family and friends will be 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home.  Private interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando, FL.  Mrs. Tarbox was born May 7, 1941 in Cuba, New York.  She graduated from Cuba Central School in June 1959; attended one year at Alfred Agricultural and Technical Institute in Alfred, NY majoring in Secretarial Science.  Employed as a legal secretary from 1960 until 1965 by George O. Francis, attorney at law, Cuba, NY; employed by Dresser Industries, a division of Clark Bros., Olean, NY until 1969 when married and moved to Florida.  In Florida was employed by the law firm of Mateer, Frey $ Harbert as a legal secretary until 1971 when employed by Keith Young as his secretary and office manager.  The firm later became known as Young, Turnbull and Linscott, P.A. until April, 1979 when it merged with the national law firm of Baker & Hostetler.  Employed there until December 1999, for medical reasons, retired in 2004.  A member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Winter Park, FL.  She was predeceased by husbands, Stanley Tarbox, James Fulwider and sisters, Ernestine and Ann Smith; Survived by her loving brother, David (Sandra) Witter of Auburn, NY; sisters, Esther Hardman of Cuba, NY, Bunny (Neil) Gibson of Avon, NY, Dora Mullen of Servene, MD, Beth Gordon Slocum of Bartlesville, OK and several nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Tarbox to the Orlando Health Cancer Foundation and/or Cornerstone Hospice.
