Rudell Thomas, 99, of Orlando passed away on Saturday March 25, 2023. Born in Crenshaw County Alabama, she moved to Orlando with her husband Miles in 1949. She is survived by her three children Joan Adams and her husband Ken, David Thomas and his wife Carol and Mark Thomas and his wife Celia along with 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also, survived by her sister, Bernice Respress.
Rudell grew up in difficult times in Opp, Alabama but always had a loving family consisting of five brothers and sisters. Always known for her great wit and intelligence she began work after high school as a bookkeeper, a profession that would serve her well at several companies. She was introduced to Miles and they were married in 1945. After several different jobs and locations in Alabama, they decided to move to Orlando for greater opportunity. It became their home for the rest of their lives.
Rudell was loved and appreciated by many friends for her caring attitude, quick wit and outgoing personality. She lived a wonderfully happy and healthy life!
A memorial service will be held at the Henry Chapel at First Baptist Orlando on April 15th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please, send donations to Family Promise of Orlando.
