Dippy, Roy Henry, M.D.
Roy H. Dippy, M.D., of Orlando, passed away early Saturday morning, March 19, 2016, at the age of 85. He was born to Robert and Clara Dippy of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Dippy was a respected physician who made a difference in the lives of many people. He met the love of his life, Lu Ann, in 1953 at First United Methodist Church of Decatur, Ga. They married in 1959 and had four children. He served as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy, traveling to Antarctica and Cuba.
Dr. Dippy graduated from the University of Florida in 1952, where he played the clarinet in the Gator Marching Band. He received his medical degree in 1956 from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He then completed an internal medicine residency at University Hospital in Oklahoma and a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Duke University Medical Center. After moving to Florida in 1964, Roy went into practice, becoming the first hematologist in Orlando.
Dr. Dippy's wife, children, and grandchildren brought him great joy. He treasured the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife , Lu Ann Dippy and his children, Jolene (Michael) Kinney, Gaylaine Harvey, Alan (Bea) Dippy and Michael Dippy. Seven grandchildren: Allison and Lauren Kinney, Tyler, Calle and Averi Kosloske and Lorelei and Anneliese Dippy. He is also survived by siblings Lee Hamilton of Palm Beach, Adele Phillips of Orlando and Dr. Walter Dippy of Stuart. He was predeceased by his brother Dr. Ted Dippy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 E.
