Richard Doan

Richard William Doan, age 70, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Advent Health Hospice Center in Orlando, FL.  He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginny) Motl Howard Doan; daughter, Mallory and husband John Hardie of Asheville, NC; son, Ricky Doan of Rock Hill, NC; daughter, Tori Doan of Asheville, NC; sister, Marianne Doan of Boone, NC; brother, John Doan of Murfreesboro, TN; and many loving family and friends who will miss him. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Doan of Forest City, NC.

Richard was born October 11, 1950 in Orlando, FL, where he lived until attending the University of North Carolina in Asheville.  After graduating he spent most of his adult life in North Carolina where he had his three children, Mallory, Ricky, and Tori.  He became a successful salesman for several large equipment manufacturers, receiving many awards and accommodations over his career, and was respected and well-liked by his clients and co-workers.  Richard also attended and earned his pilot's license from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2013 he moved back to his childhood home of Orlando, FL after reconnecting through Facebook with his high school sweetheart, Ginny Motl. Richard and Ginny met at William R. Boone High School in 1968 and were married after 44 years.  The family will have a private celebration of life in the near future.
