Patsy Busing Barr, who lived a long and full life, passed away on September 1, 2022, very peacefully at home from natural causes. She always professed she would like to live to the age of 90. Her wish came true. She was born in Lakeland, Florida on July 7, 1932 to the late Wyatt Ward Busing and Lena Shepard Busing. Patsy graduated from Lakeland High School as did her sister Gwen and brother Wyatt Ward. Her husband loved to tease her about “graduating with honors.” That became a “family fun” statement over the years. She loved the years she attended classes at Valencia Community College as she was a lifetime learner. She and her husband, Dan, and all five children moved to Orlando in the early 1960’s and established Barr’s Welding Service using Dan’s expertise in repairing welding equipment. She worked right along with Dan supporting him and the business. Both she and Dan also became residential realtors. They enjoyed working the real estate business together. Another example of her being a lifetime learner. She and Dan enjoyed traveling, cruising and camping over the years. She loved to travel and one of her greatest achievements was having the great fortune of visiting countries in each of the seven continents. She was an avid reader, gardener, bridge player and lover of trivia. She achieved the Master Gardener status and progressed to playing Duplicate Bridge. She enjoyed playing tennis and became an accomplished artist.
Patsy is survived by her five children: George Daniel “Dan” Barr, III and his wife, Suzi Meeks Barr, Michael Stephen Barr, Lisa Barr Phipps and her husband John Mark Phipps, Richard Harold Barr and his wife, Ellen Flint Barr, and Pamela Barr Faircloth and her husband William Ronald “Ronnie”Faircloth; her seven grandchildren: George Daniel “Daniel” Barr IV and his wife Kaylee Barr, Matthew Barr, Preston Richard Trimble and his wife Lauren Siitonen Trimble, Nathan Mark Phipps and his wife Madison Elkins Phipps, Tyson Daniel Faircloth and his wife Kathryn “Katie” Cole Faircloth, Corey Michael Faircloth and his wife Lydia Valdez Faircloth, and Brock Patrick Faircloth. Patsy was blessed to have seven great-grandchildren with another to be born in October. She is also survived by her sister, Gwen Busing Duckworth and cousins Pamela Dickey Winton, Jana Dickey Yates, Richard Myron Busing and his wife Anna, Sharon Busing Veronneau, and Maureen Busing George. In addition to her parents, Patsy was predeceased by George Daniel “Dan” Barr, Jr., her loving husband of 54 years. Our hearts go out to our brother, Michael, in appreciation for the years he gave as a caretaker for both our mother and our father. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Patsy’s name to Advent Health Hospice.
