Patricia Ann (Michaels) Pierce passed away quietly on April 11, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born in Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Frank) E. Pierce, Jr.; her parents Augustus P. Michaels and Clara Belle (Overly) Michaels; and two brothers, John Michaels and Robert Michaels. Growing up in Orlando, Patti participated in equestrian events and she was a member of the Tangerine Bowl Court.
Patti attended Florida State University where she was initiated into the Delta Delta Delta Sorority in 1949. She transferred to the University of Florida where she met her husband, Frank. She and Frank were married in 1952 and moved to Orlando in 1956 where they raised their two sons, Frank and Terry.
Patti was also involved in her community, where she helped to start the Morningstar School, became a member of the Junior League of Orlando in 1958, served as President of the Junior League of Orlando from 1968-1969 and was a Sustainer Emeritus. Patti was also a member of the Rosalind Club.
Patti was a devoted member of the St. James Catholic Cathedral Parish where she served as a President of the Parish Council.
Patti earned a nursing degree and served as a nurse at Orlando Regional Medical Center for a number of years. She then moved to the Risk Management Department of Oralndo Health, Inc., as she continued fulfilling and effective work at ORMC in risk management until well into her 70's, despite her challenges with age-related macular degeneration, and ultimately retired from that position.
Patti is survived by her sons, Frank III (Rebecca), Terry (Julie); grandsons, Frank IV (Erica), Dillon and Jackson; her great-grandson, Teddy; her brother-in-law, John G. Pierce (Kathleen); along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Cathedral Church, 215 North Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida, 32801, with a reception following the Mass at the Country Club of Orlando, 1601 Country Club Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32804. Interment will be Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
****Parking for the funeral service at St. James Catholic Cathedral is at the MAA Parking Garage at 310 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL. The church shares this parking garage with the apartment building. The entrance is on Robinson, 1/2 block west of Orange Avenue.
