Pamela Dickey Winton

Pamela Dickey Winton passed away on June 21, 2024 at the age of 79, just before her 80th birthday, in Orlando, Florida. Pamela was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Edgar Palmer Dickey and Mary Ellen Shepherd Dickey. She graduated from Forest Hill High School, West Palm Beach, Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, with a Bachelor Degree in Education, and later received her Master Degree in Education from Florida International University, Miami, Florida. Pamela spent most of her life, 53 years, in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Pamela was an Educational Consultant with educational book companies (Heath and Houghton Mifflin) traveling to Florida school districts and USA military bases as an educational consultant for their schools here and abroad. She continued her career as a teacher until retirement. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2006-2007 in Brevard County.

Her love was being with family and friends, and especially with her dogs, Jazzy and Lulu. She was a devout Florida State Seminole Fan along with her longtime Florida State Tri-Delta sisters, Kay Moss and Jill Rock. The three of them were planning a trip to celebrate their 80th birthdays together this summer. Special memories with other longtime friends, Todd Winton, Barbara Salver, Tip Talone, Jacque Parker, Suellen Crank, Ellen Hampton, and cousin Pam Barr Faircloth will not be forgotten. Pamela, also, loved going to football games supporting her Florida State Seminoles (rival to her sister’s Florida Gators!). She accompanied her favorite Aunt Mirm to many Miami Canes and Dolphin games. Pamela enjoyed traveling and visiting countries in each of the 7 continents and taking cruises every year with her family and friends. After retiring, she became a residence of Orlando in 2016 to be closer to family and away from the Florida coast during hurricanes!

Pamela is survived by her sister, Jana Dickey Yates, and her husband, John L. Yates. Pamela was predeceased by her brother, Donald William Dickey. Having no children of her own, Pamela was a loving aunt to her nephew, William Brick Rosenbaum, who preceded her in death, and she is survived by her niece, Aryn Paige Rosenbaum and her nephew, Kent Patrick Rosenbaum and wife, Nancy Rosenbaum, Tallahassee, Florida. We all celebrated together 2 months ago in Tallahassee, for the Baptism of Pamela’s great niece, Nora Evelyn Rosenbaum, Kent and Nancy’s first child! Pamela is also survived by her cousin, Gwen Duckworth, Orlando, and all the Barr Family 2nd cousins.

In Celebration of  Life, a memorial service for family and friends will be held in Pamela's beloved town of Cocoa Beach, Florida at the Cocoa Beach Community Church on December 7, 2024 at 10 am
