Noreen Karasek

Noreen Louise (Dixon) Karasek, of Orlando, FL, and formerly of Ambridge, PA, 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, after an extended illness.

Noreen was born on January 12, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, to Edwin and Elizabeth (Condor) Dixon, both deceased. Noreen was a 1955 graduate of Ambridge High School. She married her husband Joseph in 1960. Together they operated Helene's Fashion Colony in Ambridge for many years, where Noreen helped generations of brides find the perfect wedding gown. An avid golfer, Noreen was an active member of Ambridge Country Club. After retiring to Florida, Noreen and Joseph enjoyed good years traveling, golfing, and spending time with their many friends and family.

Noreen faced her final illness with tremendous courage. In addition to her husband Joseph, Noreen is survived by son John Karasek of Alexandria, VA, daughter Helene (James) Paharik of Greensburg, PA, son Michael (Jennifer) Karasek of Tampa, FL, daughter Jacquelyn Knupp of Latrobe, PA, nine grandchildren, and her sisters Karen Spies of Hilton Head, SC, Marilyn Schlegel of Avon Lake, OH, and Francine Wright of Virginia Beach, VA.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Cathedral, 215 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL, on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Private inurnment at Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. Memorial visitation for friends and family outside of Florida will be held at Kasper-Hahn Funeral Home, 547 8th St., Ambridge, PA, on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will be a memorial mass at Good Samaritan Parish, 710 Melrose Ave, Ambridge, on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Cathedral, or Westminster Towers Resident Council Employee Christmas Fund, 70 W. Lucerne Circle, Orlando, FL 32801.
