Naomi Lois Adams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and trailblazer in the pharmaceutical field, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2024. Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 2, 1939, Lois moved to Manatee County, Florida at 14, where she excelled in school, and became one of the first female graduates of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 1962. Lois leaves behind her three children, 4 grandchildren and one brother: Marlo "Amanda" Moore and her son Austin Moore; Byron A. Evans; Boyd "Bo" Evans, MD, his wife, Kelly, and their children, Will, Sophie and Ella. She also leaves behind her brother Winfield 'Win' Adams Jr., and close family friends Sheri Jesse; Khara Sells and Pam & Jim Ingersoll. Lois was preceded in death by her grandson, Devin Moore, and her parents, Helen Donchak Littlefield and Winfield Scott Adams Sr.
A pioneer in pharmaceutical care, Lois Adams was the founder and president of HHCS Health Group, Inc and CEO of Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy & Freedom Pharmacy. Her distinguished career spanned over 50 years, marked by her innovative approach to patient care and pharmaceutical management. Lois's dedication to her work was matched only by her incredible sense of humor, kindness, and generosity.
Known for her deep passion for her profession, Lois had an extraordinary gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She had a knack for making people feel special and always kept her fridge stocked, ready to entertain or feed a hungry friend or neighbor. Her kindness extended well beyond her professional life, reflecting her generosity and genuine desire to support others.
Lois's contributions to pharmacy were widely recognized. She received numerous accolades, including the "Executive of the Year in Pharmacy Services" in 2013 and 2014, and was honored as the "Top Female Executive" by Worldwide Branding in 2014. In 2012, she was named "Woman of the Year" by the National Association of Professional Women and awarded the "Woman of Outstanding Leadership" by the International Women's Leadership Association. Her exceptional service earned her the "Heroes of Hope Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Orlando Business Journal in 2010 and the "National Pharmacist of the Year" Award from Good Neighbor Pharmacies of America. She was also the first woman in Florida to win the prestigious "Wyeth-Bowl of Hygeia Award" in 2006. She was also very active in the Florida Pharmacy Association.
Beyond her professional achievements, Lois was a dedicated advocate for various causes. She served on numerous committees and boards, including the American Pharmacy Association's Policy Review Committee and the Board of Directors for the Transplant Recipients International Organization.
Lois's legacy of compassion, humor, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday September 14, 2024 at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home 2811 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL 32806. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Lois's boundless generosity and warm spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
