Michael Manuel Oro, 28, died Thursday, July 23, 2015. Michael was born on June 22, 1987 in Orlando, Florida. He was the only child of Glenna Oaldon Oro and Manny Oro, Jr.
Michael graduated from Timber Creek High School. He was a few electives away from receiving his AA degree from Valencia College. He planned on attending UCF and studying computer science.
Michael was loved by all that met him. He had the most beautiful smile. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He was the boy that loved Superman, Super Mario, firetrucks, Goosebumps books and basketball. He was the boy that attended summer Orlando Magic camp at UCF. He was the middle school and high school student that loved skateboarding. In high school he found the love of science, history, math and computers. He was a creative writer and thinker. He always had a unique perspective with his writing assignments. During high school and after graduation, he worked at Chick-Fil-A as a cook. His last job was as a Barista at Starbucks.
Mike loved to talk about astronomy. He could talk for hours about the planets and stars and the universe. He had a love of the NBA and the Orlando Magic. He watched Michael Jordon on the court at the O-Rena. He sat courtside at UCF at Dwight Howard's all-star game at the CFE Arena at UCF. Michael loved working out at the gym. His most recent love was morning coffee with his one-grandma and dinners out with his mom.
Mike was the boy that would break dance at your wedding. He was the boy who would read every Goosebumps book and he knew the exact release date of the next volume. He was the one who read every Harry Potter Book. He was the nephew that would help his Aunt set up her 5th grade classroom and at the end of every school year he would be right back to box it all up. He was a co-pilot in his father's airplane. He loved traveling to foreign countries and learning about cultures and cuisine. He loved his trips with his dad to Spain and eating octopus. In the past few years Mike found a love of electronic music. He made a studio in his bedroom. He produced and composed beautiful music. Michael was the friend that made you laugh. He would call you by your last name, not your first. He would give you a nickname that would stick for life. His friends fondly called him Oreo because of his last name and the fact that he loved his mom's infamous Oreo birthday cake. He loved his friends and family. He loved his Aunt LaDonne's collie dog, Abbey. He loved that his Uncle Carlos would visit and join him in his latest sporting adventure. Mike loved the delicious Cuban dinners prepared by his Grandmother Victorina.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Glen Oaldon and Manuel Oro, Sr.
Michael is survived by his mother Glenna Oaldon Oro, his father Manuel Oro, Jr., his grandmothers Lorraine McCarthy Oaldon, and Victorina Oro, his Aunt LaDonne Laura Oaldon, his Uncle Carlos Oro and his twin cousins Daniel and David Oro.
Visitation will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, on Wednesday, July 29, from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, 10am, at Conway United Methodist Church, Orlando.
