Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, and stepfather “Mike” left this mortal world and was delivered into the hands of our Lord on the evening of Sunday, October 23rd. Mike was born in Chicago 95 years ago and moved to Orlando from Park Ridge, New Jersey in the early 80’s. He is preceded in death by parents John & Frances (ne: Harmon), his beloved daughter, Nancy, wives, Lorraine (ne: Flynn), Betty (ne: DeSantis) and twin siblings, Jack and Peggy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Concetta (ne: DeNisco), his son Jack, daughter-in-law Sherry, stepfamily Joe & Norrine Grelish, and Jim & Nancy Carlson.
At the age of 17, Mike joined the Navy as a Bosun mate, serving in the Pacific during WW II. Returning stateside, he went to work for N.Y. Tel and later worked and retired from AT&T. To bridge the time between retirement and social security, he bought a Sabrett Hot Dog Cart and sold his wares on Frontage Road, where he could watch the planes take off and land at Orlando International Airport. In the process, he became a local television celebrity in Orlando.
Up until his 90’s, for a total of 66 years, Mike served as a leader and Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mike’s passions were his family, traveling the world, and listening to music, often singing along to his old-time favorites.
Mike had a very kind heart and quick wit/sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in his memory to :
“Brightfocus for Macular Degeneration” at https://support.brightfocus.org/. (Both Mike and his mother suffered from this disease of the cornea for several years)
A viewing will be held at 11:00 am, followed by a Catholic mass at 1:00 pm, on Monday October 31st at:
