Mary Mixson

Mary Alice Mixson
Born November 16, 1920 in Alabama to ID and Minnie Walker. Mary moved to Ocala, FL as a small child. She married Ercel Forrest Mixson in 1940 and had one child
Sherry Mixson Barnes. Mary then moved to Belle Glade, Fl., to join her fathers business-ID Walker $ Sons Truck Brokers. In 1961 she opened Alice Mixson Florist and operated that until retirement in 1996 when she moved to Orlando, FL., She and her husband Ercel established Mixson Funeral Home in 1964. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle Glade and was very active in many community affairs in Belle Glade. She is preceded in death by her husband Ercel Mixson, her parents ID and Minnie Walker and one brother Dick Walker. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law-Sherry and Dudley Barnes. Grandchildren: Christa and Mickey Grindstaff, Nickie Barnes and fiancé Lindsey Whittaker, Candy and David McKnight. Great Grandchildren: Cassidy and Collins Brown, Graham and Tiffany Grindstaff, John Dudley, Ramsey Mixson and Presley Pantaleon, Walker and Laura McKnight and Great Granddaughter Lily Mixson Brown. A gathering of friends for Mary is scheduled for Friday, November 27th from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Belle Glade, 17 NW Avenue B, Belle Glade, Fl., 33430. A Celebration of Life is scheduled immediately following the gathering at 1:00 PM at the Church with placement at Foreverglades Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's memory to Vitas Healthcare, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, FL., 32751
