Maridean Simmons

Maridean Kicklighter Simmons, 93, of Orlando, went home to be with her Lord on May 9, 2016.

She was born July 13, 1922 in Mendes, GA, the daughter of Daniel Kicklighter and Carrie Kirkland Kicklighter.

Maridean loved to play the piano and sing. In her early teens she sang Southern Gospel music with her sister and father and then she continued to work in the entertainment business for many years during the 40's singing with Big Bands.

Surviving is her son, Patrick A. Del Mar (Karen), sister Kathleen Plyer, grandchildren Maynard Del Mar and Angela Del Mar (Kevin) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers donations in her memory, be made to the American Cancer Society.
