Margaret Irue Spencer
April 28, 1921 - November 18, 2016
Margaret was born in Cleveland, TN to EuVerla Mae Ellis and Dewey Lee Elkin. She lived her early years with her grandparents, John Benton (J.B.) and Mertie Ellis, an evangelist with the Church of God of which Margaret dedicated her talents and service her entire life.
Margaret and her mother eventually found their way to Linden, FL where she met William Carl (W.C.) Wade and married at the age of 16. The newlywed couple moved to Orlando, FL., and after 12 years of trying to start a family, was blessed with a baby boy, Doug! Then, Verla, then Billy (who lived 8 mos.), then Marty, then Jodie, and finally, Janna. Their house on Lake Holden quickly became the hub for social events, youth hangouts, and a musical practice studio for piano lessons, singing groups practice and recitals. Her home was never without music, cooking (did you ever have her Banana Pudding?), and kids which she so lovingly and joyously endured! As one of those 'kids' stated, "She was extremely talented but never fussy about it!"
Through her dedication to the Orange Avenue Church of God as the church musician and organist, she influenced and mentored many generations of young people to experience their own lifelong love for God and music.
Margaret's love for developing musical talents and humble service to Jesus is her legacy that has influenced everyone with whom she came in contact.
She has pleased the Lord with her life and has heard Him say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
Margaret is survived by her sister, Greta O'Toole from State College, PA; Sons, Douglas Wade from Searcy, AK and his wife Karen, Martin Wade from Linden, FL; Daughter, Verla Lockard from Niota, TN, Jodie Hayes from Marietta, GA and her husband Mike, Janna Scruggs from Orlando, FL and her husband David; Grandchildren, Amber, Ginger, Michele, Ty, Cleve, Chad, Jordan, Josh and Aaron: 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
