Margaret L. Kendall
Dec. 8, 1922 - August 19, 2015
Margaret L. Kendall, age 92, of Orlando, died on August 19, 2015. She was born in Orlando at what is now called Orlando Regional Medical Center and graduated from Orlando High School. She worked for the Draft Board during World War II and the Korean War. She was married to Ward V. Kendall on November 5, 1945, after he came back wounded from World War Two. She spent her whole life in Orlando with her husband, who was a postal supervisor when he retired (so he could fish more). She and her husband had a second home in Goodland, Florida for many years, where Ward fished with the many friends and family because he always knew where the fish were, while Margaret cleaned and cooked the fish and took care of the guests.
After Ward died in 1997, Margaret spent her time reading mystery novels, visiting and playing various games with her friends at the Senior Center, and being involved with the Northpark Baptist Church. She loved her Pomeranian dogs that she had over the years. She touched many lives with her caring, honest ways.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Sikes, and her two brothers, Jack A. Sikes and Wilbur F. Sikes. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon E. Beatty, who is a Professor at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
Margaret moved to Tuscaloosa in August 2013 into Brookdale Senior Living. Everyone marveled at how sharp Margaret was-she never wanted a calendar because she always knew what date it was and she had many phone numbers remembered by heart. However, with her decreasing hearing and sight it became harder and harder to do the things she loved to do (like read books) and many of her friends departed this earth before she did.
Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 29th, at Carey Hand Colonial, 2811 E. Curry Ford Road. Following the visitation, at 11:30 there will be a short service and burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
