M. Couch

M.Christine Couch, Orlando, FL. passed away on Sunday November 22, 2015. Born in Gray, TN on December 25, 1932, Christine grew up in Tennessee and attended Boone Creek High School, and graduated from East Tennessee State University with an education degree following in the footsteps of her older sister and her mother, who were also teachers. It was at ETSU that Christine met Jack, who became her husband of 59 years. After marriage, they moved to Florida, eventually settling in Orlando. Christine spent 35 years teaching at Conway and Walker Middle Schools, and Oak Ridge and Dr. Phillips High Schools. Christine's love of teaching led to many responsibilities with different organizations: Retired Educators Association Executive Board, Florida Retired Educators Foundation chairperson for the Foundation/Scholarship Committee, President of the Florida Secondary Reading Council, Florida Reading Association, and Friends of the Library Board.

Christine was a member of First Presbyterian Church Orlando, for over 50 years. She served as a Deacon and as Bereavement Chairperson, and was a longtime member of Circle 13 (where her homemade pies were legendary).
Christine also loved traveling with her husband Jack. They enjoyed visiting Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, and Germany, among other locations while touring with the Bach Festival Society Choir of which Jack was a long time member.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband Jack D. Couch, and is survived by her sister Charlotte Hall of Johnson City, TN, her two daughters Sharon (Keith) Shenuski and Kim (Mark) Jamieson, and her beloved grandchildren Taylor Shenuski, Julia and David Jamieson of Orlando,FL.

Viewing will be held Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of M. Christine Couch will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 106 E Church St, Orlando, FL.
