MUMBOWER, WILBUR E. (Web), Lt. Col (Ret.) USAF, 96, of Orlando, passed away peacefully in his sleep February 23, 2016, exactly one month short of his 97th birthday. He was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, on March 23, 1919, to parents Marcellus and Myrtel Mumbower. Web spent two years in college in Oklahoma before enlisting in the Air Corps in 1941. He fought in the Pacific Islands during WW II, went to OCS graduating as a 2nd Lt. in August 1943. He had a long, distinguished career in the Air Force having won numerous awards and medals, including the Bronze Star Medal for service in VietNam. One of his favorite posts was as the Asst. Air Attache in the American Embassy in Madrid, Spain. He spent a good part of his military career stationed in the Washington, DC, area. He retired from the Air Force in 1970 and moved to Orlando. He also worked for Walt Disney World for several years since he needed to keep busy when not playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Mumbower; his first wife Norma Wilks Mumbower; his second wife MaryLou Dean Mumbower; and his stepdaughter Sandy Taylor. He is survived by his daughter Judy Rumberger (Bob); stepson Steve Dean (Janet); 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Web was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was surrounded by his daughter Judy, son-in-law Bob, granddaughter Shelley Ritten (Paul), and granddaughter Stephanie Wallin in his final days at Cornerstone Hospice at ORMC.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, at 10:00 am, services to follow at 11:00, at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando. Burial will be at Glen Haven Cemetery, Winter Park, following the service.
