Kristin Koch

Our dear Kristin died unexpectedly on Dec. 5, 2015. Kristin was born in Chicago, IL. She moved to Sarasota in 1975 at the age of seven and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1985. She attended Stetson University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and graduated in 1989 with a BA in Sociology. Kristin furthered her education at UCF where she obtained her teaching certification. She worked at various colleges in the Orlando area before she returned to teaching. She was teaching ESE students at The Crenshaw School at the time of her death. Kristin was a devoted teacher and had an immense love for her students. She always had a strong passion to study other cultures and history and enjoyed traveling all over the world. Her life was filled with dancing, laughing, singing and a great compassion for all people, especially those less fortunate. Kristin's family and friends were a top priority and she would always make the time and effort to be with them. Her beautiful brown eyes and contagious smile will be missed but never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Ida Vonesh. She is survived by her partner of 23 years, Patricia Wiley, mother, Sandra Koch of Sarasota, FL, father, Richard Koch of Spotsylvania, VA, sister Kathryn Churms (Joseph) and niece Hannah Churms of DeLand, FL, aunt and uncle Eleanor and Leonard Charchut, cousins Brad (Erin) and Steven (Heather) Charchut. and beloved dog, Ollie. A Celebration of Life will be held onSaturday, Dec. 12, at 11:00 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando.
