SCHRIMSHER, JOE L. (PAPA JOE)
85, passed away peacefully at his home February 9th. He was born in Rome, GA, May 28, 1929, the son of Joe M. & Mary S. Schrimsher. February 22, 1946, he married Martha Jean Hanner. They were happily married for 62 years when she passed away June 24, 2009. He lived at Windsor Place where he was well cared for by Maria, Maud and Dalmey and surrounded by his children, grandchildren and friends. He was in the US Army 82nd Airborne. He was a fireman, plumbing contractor, oil & natural gas producer and real estate developer. While working as a fireman in Greensboro, NC, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a Billy Graham Crusade in November 1951. Everyone who knew him loved, admired and respected him. He is survived by his three sons, Frank (Pamela), Steven (Deborah) & Michael (Tina) of Orlando and his daughter Pamela Jean Wagner (Norbert) of Munich, Germany, twelve grandchildren, Jennifer (John), Joe II, Peyton (Brian), Jake (Ansley), Luke (Megan), Joshua (Tiffaney), Randol (Amber), Cole, Katie (Michael), Zack, Susannah, Deacon, and 21 great grandchildren. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church Orlando. A significant part of Papa Joe=s legacy was his emphasis on the value of a good name. Proverbs 22:1. He was devoted to his family and loved driving his grandchildren to school and attending all their sporting and extra curricular activities. The family will receive friends at CAREY HAND CURRY FORD FUNERAL HOME, 2811 E. Curry Ford Road, Orlando Visitation from 6-8PM, Thursday, February 12. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Orlando, Henry Chapel, 2:00 PM, February 13. In lieu of flowers, donations to First Baptist Church Orlando, 3000 S. John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805 and/or Billy Graham Evangelistic Assoc.,1 Billy Graham Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28201. Interment will be with family only at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
