Joan Cosmas

Joan Loraine Cosmas, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in the early hours of May 11, 2021 in the arms of her beloved husband of 68 years, Richard (Dick) Cosmas.

A native of Guttenberg, New Jersey, she married Richard on March 21,1953 at the age of 20.  They began their life journey of 68 years together.  Eventually settling in Manville, NJ where her sons were raised.  In July of 1977, their world odyssey began which included stays in Iran(3 years), Saudi Arabia(3 years) Kuwait(7 years).  Throughout her travels, Joan remained fiercely committed to her family and would make anyone that entered her home feel welcome.  As the emotional leader of the family, her dedication was the glue which held the family together.  Joan loved to entertain, and her home and refrigerator was always open.

Although Joan left New Jersey over 44 years ago, New Jersey never left her, and she remained a “Jersey Girl”.  Joan, Mom, Nana’s impact will have a lasting influence on each life that she has touched.

She is survived by her husband Richard (Dick), three sons Rick, Rob and Ron, three daughter-in-law’s Sue, Janelle, & Katherine, nine grandchildren Tripp, Troy, Connor, Sarah, Asher, Justin, Taylor, Rachel and Karis and four great grandchildren, Anna Lynn, Edward,  Ocean and Rowen.  She is predeceased in death by her father Howard, mother Florence , brother Howard and sister Carol.  Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road Orlando, FL 32806.  The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church 800 E. Michigan Street,  Orlando,  FL 32806.
