Jessie Heasley

Jessie Reba McCalla Heasley, 91, peacefully passed away on December 20, 2015. A second generation Orlandoan, she was born on June 21, 1924. Mrs. Heasley graduated from Orlando High School, Virginia Intermont College and Florida State College for Women (FSU). She later obtained her Masters in Education Administration from Rollins College. Mrs. Heasley taught American History and Psychology at Edgewater High School for 18 years and then on to serve as Coordinator for Secondary Social Studies at the Orange County Public Schools Education Center. She served as President of the Orlando Day Nursery and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. She was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was married to Robert P. Heasley for 24 years. Mrs. Heasley is survived by her daughter, Anne Heasley Billica (Barry), son, James M. Heasley (Eileen), grandsons James M. Heasley, Jr. and Christopher A. Mack (Kylee), granddaughter, Angela Meneses and her favorite furry friend, Mr. Cat.
A memorial service for Mrs. Heasley will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida 32806. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her memory to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, 411 Mercy Drive, Orlando, Florida or your favorite charity.
