Jeanette Chappell Strickland, 84, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2014 in Orlando, FL. She was born in Glen Allen, VA to John and Florence Chappell. She was one of ten children and married Frank Strickland in February, 1953 at Goodwill Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA. Jeanette was a devoted member of North Park Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and enriched many little minds and was a member of the kitchen committee, where she served dinner on Wednesday nights for the community. She was an interior designer and decorator and also worked for Eastern Airlines. She was known for her extensive collection of hats and her love for them all, especially her red ones. Jeanette resided in Orlando with her husband and enjoyed gardening and sitting outside on her swing. She is survived by her loving husband Frank, daughter Fay Geving sisters Etta Graser and Lois Ann Bobby, eight grandchildren, Mark Dwayne Geving, Derrick Geving, Cameron Strickland, Scott Sewell Laura, David Sewell Christine, Amanda, Alayna and Austin Strickland, and four great grandchildren, Emma and Tasher Sewell, Brendan and Trevor Spedden, sisterinlaw, Patricia Harbin Doyle, plus countless nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, three children, Cynthia StricklandKocour, Brenda Sewell Jack and Douglas Strickland, and granddaughter Lavon Lea. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at North Park Baptist Church in Baldwin Park. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
