James Scarborough, Sr.

April 9, 1919 — February 4, 2018

James (Cecil) Scarborough, 98, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on February 4, 2018. Cecil was born in Dothan, Alabama and moved to Florida in 1947. He was a Merchant Marine and a dedicated member of South Conway Baptist Church. Cecil led a full and blessed life. He traveled the American coastline on a freighter converted into a passenger ship. He was a skilled welder in a shipyard during WWII. He was also a meat cutter market manager for Winn Dixie, honored with the responsibilities of opening several stores in Orange County. Cecil was faithful in serving his Lord, his family and his work. After serving many years as a Deacon, he was awarded the honorary position as "Deacon Emeritus". He reflected the love of his Lord to all whom he touched. Cecil is preceded in death by his dear wife Martha Blake Scarborough. He is survived by his sons, James Cecil Scarborough, Jr. (Vickki) and John William Scarborough (Cheryl), daughter Dorothy Sue Fishbaugh, grandchildren; Patricia, Kathy, Laurie, John, Michael, Joshua and Peter and nine great grandchildren. A viewing will take place at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, in Orlando, on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, Florida.
