J. Allen Morgan, 75, affectionately known as "Jake" to many and "Pa" to his family, joined his Savior in heaven on September 14, 2015. His life was a shining testimony of God's love, and he lives on through the impact he made on the lives of many others.
Allen was born on March 13, 1940, to the late Beuford and Helen Morgan, in Tampa, Florida. He always enjoyed an adventure and approached life with a strong work ethic and a contagious sense of humor. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Rentz, on September 15, 1962. Together, they raised three girls in Orlando, and shared their home and lives with many of the girls' friends along the way. He was a great father and mentor, whether it was sharing his faith in God, teaching kids how to wash cars the "right" way, or entertaining a crowd from his chair in the family room.
Allen's success in electrical supply sales led him to start his own business, Allen Enterprises, in 1983, representing ADB's airfield lighting solutions in the southeastern U.S. He was known by his professional colleagues for his vast knowledge, engaging conversation, dedication to a job well done, and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
Allen loved the water and enjoyed 12 years of retirement; fishing every chance he could on the Gulf Coast of Florida. He taught all his grandchildren to fish and his favorite times were when he was surrounded by his family in his "Fishin' House."
Allen is survived by his wife, Beverly; his daughters and sons-in-law: Stacey and Clyde Larrabee, Allison and Keith Meese, Dana and Paul Hamlin; his grandchildren Anna, Viktor and Kaitlyn Larrabee, Morgan and Megan Meese, Jacob and Reagan Hamlin; two great-grandchildren; his brother David Morgan and family; countless friends and loved ones; and his constant companion, Snickers.
A gathering of friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home in Orlando. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, at Garden of Memories in Tampa.
