James Richard Jones III

James Richard "Rick" Jones III, age 74 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away August 27, 2023.  He was born June 28, 1949 in Augusta, Georgia to James Richard and Allie McGreg (Singletary) Jones, Jr.  Rick graduated from Boone High School in Orlando, Florida, received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico, and his PHD from Indiana University.  Rick was an Archaeologist for Indiana State.  He was a member of the Portfolio Club and various other archaeology groups. Rick, AKA Indiana Jones, because of his Archaeology Degree, mentored many students and other professionals in Archaeology and Anthropology.  He played lead guitar in "Late Shift Disorder".

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Christina Jones; sisters, Allie Myers (John), and Sue Jones (Roger Hunt); nephews, David Roe (Tara), Zachary Hunt, Elliot Hunt, Jasper Hunt, Brennan Jones (Corissa), and Taylor Jones (Kelsey).  He is preceded in death by his brother, William McGreg Jones.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, September 15, 2023 at Glen Haven Cemetery with Pastor Clint Kandle officiating.
