James (Jim) Coplin
February 6, 1932 – July 13, 2021
From Connie, oldest daughter:
For JDC8 – Our DAD
A “Man among Men” with a kind heart and a quick mind.
Who loved my Mom and his kids with all his heart.
Who took us (and half the neighborhood kids!) sled riding after work, because the snow was perfect.
Who ran the hose on our street all night, so we would have our own ice skating rink the next day after school.
Who was a positive influence on all of us fortunate enough to know him.
Who was always up for my Mom’s adventures – big or small.
Who was always there with a helping hand, or a solution to a problem.
Who said “We can fix it” instead of “Throw it away”.
Who, with our Mom (MAC), taught us how to love, what makes a good marriage, the value of true friendship, and that families stick together.
Who made the world a better place.
Who lives on in the hearts of those who love you………….
From CJD
Daughter #1
From Janet, youngest daughter:
My dad, always larger than life, always knew how to fix things, and how to make things work. He taught us all how to be patient, kind and tolerant of others. He was like no one else, a man of honor and integrity, with a quick wit and kindness.
He taught us that when you love someone you take care of them, as we watched him do that for our Mom with her Alzheimer’s. I felt she was waiting for him and he was anxious to go with her. One year + one day after she passed, he is finally by her side again. He said she went to polish the stars and he was going to help her. He laughed when I told him to “bring a ladder, she’s short”.
He was always so strong, even through the life ending health issues. Always teaching us to do what’s right and to work together. Teaching his blood family and all the friends we brought around, too.
We miss you so very much, thank you for being the best everything from dad to grandpa to great grandpa to uncle to brother to son to friend any one of us could ask for. MAC and JDC8 together again, may they rest in peace.
From Jeremiah, grandson:
Grandpa you had a good run man.... we gonna miss you for sure. Now get your butt up there and take care of grandma and get to polishing the stars... don’t worry ‘bout us down here I’ll take care of everything for you… thank you for everything love you
R.I.P. LEGEND
JDC8
From Eric, grandson:
As some you know my grandfather has passed away today (7-13) which is a year and a day after my grandmother passed away. I know this is will sound cliche’ but words cannot express how grateful for this family. They continue to show me how to look at things from different perspectives and no matter how busy we get will make time for each other. Also, my aunt (Janet) and mom (Connie) are saints. They are far stronger than I am and can handle situations I could never handle. Jeremiah has proven to have the same qualities. I hope to have the same impact grandpa has had on so many lives but that’s a tall order to fill. Also, I hope to have a family of the same quality that the Coplin’s have created. He finally gets to be with grandma which I think he’s been wanting for some time. It’s time to go polish the stars.
The family feels we can’t tell the story of Dad without Mom, so we would like to include the link to her story: https://www.careyhandcolonialchapel.com/obituary/Marilyn-Coplin
If you have a picture or a memory you want to share with us, please do so. We want to share them with the family.
