Jack D. Couch of Orlando, Florida passed away on Sunday June 29, 2014.
Born in Johnson City, TN, September 17, 1931. Jack graduated from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Miami, FL and East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN in 1954. He also served in the US Army for two years.
Jack married Christine King in 1955 and moved to Florida where he was employed by Pan American Airlines. He had a long career in aeronautical engineering, working for Raytheon Corporation,
MartinMarietta, McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company, Planning Resource Corporation and later Boeing as a manager at the Kennedy Space Center. His love of airplanes and rockets culminated into a successful design career and management position with NASAs Space Shuttle program, where he retired in 1995.
Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, FL for fifty years where he served as a Deacon and Elder, and sang in the Chancel Choir for 48 years. Jack was a member of the Bach Festival Society Choir of Winter Park, FL for fifteen years.
Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine King Couch, his daughter Sharon Keith Shenuski, grandson Taylor Shenuski and daughter Kimberly Mark Jamieson, grandchildren David and Julia Jamieson of Orlando, FL.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Jack D. Couch will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 106 East Church Street, Orlando, FL.
Viewing will be held Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at CareyHand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 East Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL.
