Irma Platt

Platt, Irma Fletcher, daughter of  the late Arthur John Fletcher and Rena Catherine Fletcher, was born on Easter Sunday April 20, 1924 in Bell, FL.  The youngest of nine children.

Irma married her true love and life partner, Donald Downey Platt in 1952.  In 1955 they started working alongside each other to build the Platt's Dairy operation in East Orange County, FL until his death in 1979.  She continued to live on their beloved dairy and spend countless hours caring for the property and home they built together until her death.

A longtime member of the Hugh Cotton Insurance firm, Irma was the first recipient of the insurance industry's award named in honor, the "Irma".

She is survived by her son J. Kenley Platt (Frieda) and her daughter Jacqueline Cockes. She is lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, Jon Cockes (Missy), Kimberly Platt, Karen Colvin (Bill), Kenneth Cockes (Magan), and Alice Pearman (Carlos), and six great-grandchildren Zachary Andersen, Shelby Nead, Nathan Cockes, Ryan Cockes, Cooper Cockes and Tanner Cockes.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 10-11AM at the Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32806 407-898-2561 www.careyhand.com. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019 11AM at the Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, FL .
