Hubert Dwight Morris, 78, passed away February 13, 2017, at Cornerstone Hospice of Orlando Health.
Hubert was born February 17, 1938, in King's Mountain, North Carolina to William Cephas and Bertha Mae (Laughter) Morris.
He grew up in Ellenboro, North Carolina and attended school in Ellenboro, NC, then joined the United States Air Force for 4 years, where he was stationed in Lackland, Texas and Laon, Aisne, France. After his service in the USAF, he attended Mid Florida Tech to begin his career as an Electrician. He married Bette Jane Leonard Buchkovich on August 22, 1964.
He started his electrician career with Orange County Public Schools, and then Orlando Utilities Commission, where he won numerous awards. He retired from OUC in 2000 after 40 dedicated years.
Hubert was an active member of Orlando Central Church of the Nazarene where he served on the church board, and sang bass in the choir, and also a member of the church softball team.
His hobbies include: Reading, traveling, and collecting Matchbox cars. He was a National Member of the ‘Elite 2000 Club of Matchbox'.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Bette; daughter, Tammy Kinnett; son-in-law, Jack Kinnett; grandchildren, Hunter Jackson and Daisy Suzanna; brother, Wilford (Opal) Morris, Charlotte, NC; sister, Judy (Robert) Morris Black; sister-in-law, Colleen Morris, Ellenboro, NC; sister-in-law, Lois Morris, Winston Salem, NC; several nieces and nephews; and his precious dog, Bella.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Morris will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2017, located at Center Pointe Community Church, Orlando, FL. The family will be welcoming friends at 3:00pm and the service will start at 3:30pm.
