Hiram Coleman Grant III
Hiram Coleman Grant III passed away quietly in his home of 50 years in Orlando, FL in the company of close family. He was known as Coleman or Bob to his family, friends, and co-workers in the financial community. He was born April 12, 1938 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Dorothy Woodard (Paone). Dorothy, her sisters and brother raised him while he grew up in Weymouth. In 1956, Coleman left Massachusetts to attend school at the University of Miami. This is where Coleman first fell in love with the Sunshine State. In 1958, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer and was sent to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. On a military training exercise in New York; he met Patricia Daly and told her he was going to marry her one day. They married on February 13, 1960 in New York.
After Coleman left the military, he took a job on wall street as a clerk to clear stocks and bonds securities. As he learned more and more about trading securities, he decided to become a broker. In 1969, Coleman got sick and the doctor told him he needed to move out of New York, so he picked Orlando, Florida as the family’s new home. Coleman found a job with a local company called Hornblower Weeks, that was eventually bought several times to finally become PaineWebber and then UBS securities. Coleman retired from UBS in 2002 after a long successful career. Coleman also enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in Orlando with 442 Personal Services Company and served 10 years as an active Reservist.
Coleman is survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia, his son Steven Grant and his Wife Barbara, of Saint Augustine, Florida, and daughter Deborah Barnard and Husband Carl, of Greenville, South Carolina, his brother Rick Paone and his wife Annette and his sister Marilyn Rando and her husband Robert
Coleman is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Ashley Conway and her Husband Stephen, Steven Grant II and his wife Mindy, Shannon Grant, Danielle Barnard, Samantha Hughes and her Husband Tyler, and Carl Barnard II and 1 great grandchild Kelsey Conway.
Coleman will always be remembered for his quick wit, his love of his wife Pat and family, his love of travel and life in general, and for his killer poker instincts.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
