Harry Colson Rutledge, born April 9, 1931 in Trenton, FL, went to be with his Lord on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 surrounded by his family. Harry met his college sweetheart, Dolores, at Stetson University and they were married July 31, 1954. After serving our country during war in Europe, Harry and Dolores moved to Orlando. A well-respected financial advisor, Harry worked for Guardian Life Insurance for 51 years.
Throughout his life, Harry faithfully served First Baptist Church Orlando as Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, and various leadership positions. All who knew him regarded him as a devoted family man who left a strong legacy of faith to his entire family.
Harry is survived by: Dolores, his wife of 67 years; son Lawrence (Laura), daughter Debbie; grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer), Jacob, Jessica (Steven), Lauren (Karl), Kaley; and great-grandchildren Anna, Elijah, Judson, Rileigh & Cooper. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Orlando's Henry Chapel on Wednesday, April 7th at 2:00 PM. Reception to follow in the Southern Oaks neighborhood. A private interment will be held at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Ona, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Baptist Orlando's Ministry in Asia.
