Harriett Ingalsbe Sobin, 91, passed away Aug. 12, 2014, in St. Augustine, Fla. She served her country in the U.S. Army as an Army nurse throughout India during World War II where she met her husband, Howard.
Mrs. Sobin graduated from West Plains High School in West Plains, Mo., and St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan. After discharge from the Army, Harriett and Howard were married and moved to Orlando where they resided for almost 70 years.
Harriett served on many boards and volunteer groups. During her retirement, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Orlando. In 2013, she relocated to St. Augustine, made many new friends and was able to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., with many other WWII veterans.
Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Howard her brothers, Richard Ingalsbe and Edwin Ingalsbe, West Plains.
She is survived by brothers, James Ingalsbe, John Ingalsbe, West Plains, Howard Ingalsbe, Buckner, Mo. sister, Helen Powell, Monett, Mo. children, Shelley Sobin Hull, St. Augustine, Fla., Doug Sobin Linda, Melbourne, Fla., Lynn SobinComstock Carl, Clermont, Fla. grandchildren, Tishca Peterson Doug, Holly Hunter Phil, Katie Hammontree Matt, Michael and Karen Sobin and six greatgrandchildren.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Aug. 30, 2014, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
