Gordon Kiester

Dr. Gordon L. Kiester, DDS, passed away May 22, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born on June 11, 1925 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. After graduation from the University of Michigan and service in the US Navy, he and his family moved to Orlando in the fifties to begin his 45 year practice. He was Orlando’s second oral surgeon and worked alongside Dr. Wilbur M. Davis, Sr. Dr. Kiester was actively involved in the community and was a member the American Dental Association, and member and past President of the Orange County Dental Society. He was an Eagle Scout, Grand Champion of the 1940 Daily Press Soap Box Derby, in Pontiac, MI, and won fourth place honors in the National Soap Box Derby in Akron, OH, YMCA Indian Guides Leader, and founding member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church. His passion for helping people led him on church mission trips to Haiti to offer dental care. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rae and son Ken. He is survived by his wife Patricia Demro Kiester; daughters Ginger Rieth (Bill) and Marilyn Kiester, son Don Kiester; 5 grandchildren Kristin Rieth, Jennifer Buff (Jon) Amy Marsh (Parker), Jamie and David Kiester; 5 great-grandchildren Katherine Rieth, Isabella and Fiona Buff, Parks and Luke Marsh; stepchildren Phillip Demro and Phoebe Burda. Memorial service will be at 4pm Monday, June 3rd at the Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 400 S. Lakemont Ave., Winter Park, FL. Visitation from 4-6pm on June 2nd at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home Orlando, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association.
