Gladys A. Bond
Gladys Alvarine Anderson Bond was born on January 10th, 1923, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Beulah Lewis Anderson and William Hobart Anderson. Gladys passed away on April 12th, 2024, at the Orlando Lutheran Towers. She was married to her beloved and late husband, Neal Bond, who passed away on December 31st, 2016. Gladys was one of six siblings: Don Lewis Anderson, Anna May Sanders, Jesse Anderson, Connie Helms and Wade Anderson.
Gladys and Neal had four amazing daughters: Patricia Bond Danforth, Cynthia Bond Clemens, Sally Bond Mann, and Polly Bond Monica. They also had seven grandchildren: Kevin Danforth, Matt and Neal Clemens, AJ and Anthony Monica, and Griffin Mann. There are also ten great-grandchildren: Jessica Danforth Brown; Jameson, Luke, Brandon and Emily Clemens; Neal and Elle Monica; and Alexander Monica. Last but not least is their one and only great-great-grandchild, McCailey Brown.
Gladys was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Orlando since May 19th, 1957. She was an active member in the women’s circle and Sunday School Programs (Turner-Torrence Class). She worked in several jobs, including Kress Department Store, The Remnant Shop, Sears Buying and Finance Department, and Orange County Finance Office. Upon her retirement, she sewed for paraplegics at the Lucerne Hospital Spinal Unit. She was truly gifted when it came to gardening - a green thumb for sure. When it came to her preparation of meals, all of her family can attest to her wonderful culinary skills, favorites being chicken-and-dumplings, creamed corn, fried okra and biscuits, with homemade peach ice cream always in demand.
Nineteen years ago, Gladys and Neal moved into the Towers and while living there, made many wonderful friends over those years. They especially enjoyed dining with others and playing cards.
Gladys enjoyed life to its fullest and was always in good spirits, particularly at her 100th birthday party in January 2023, with all of her extended family and friends at the Towers in attendance.
So, with the kindest regards, we would like to thank all those who knew Gladys over the years and made her smile.
