Frederick Rosenthal

July 27, 1927 — October 5, 2015

Went to be with the lord on October 5, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Lee Rosenthal. Fred was born July 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA. to Natalie (Conrad) and Edmund Rosenthal. He obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University. While at Drexel, he co-oped, working at a shipyard at the end of WWII, then at Westinghouse Electric where he then was employed for 38 years. While with Westinghouse he was one of the early engineer pioneers designing jet engines, a project manager and later a manufacturing manager for nuclear power plant equipment. While with Westinghouse he spent a year with Rolls Royce in England and traveled to Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. Upon early retirement Fred became a consultant implementing and teaching manufacturing software systems from Florida to California working with over forty companies. While residing in Swarthmore, PA, Fred married Anna Lee Michener in 1954 and they moved to Kansas City, MO. Subsequent positions took them to Pittsburgh, PA, Severna Park, MD, Wilmington, DE, and Winter Park, FL. Fred was an active citizen in each community. He first became an Elder in Murrysville, PA, and then served two three year terms as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando where he served in a variety of committee and service positions. He was a President of the University Club of Winter Park, a board member of the Winter Park Historical Association, and a board member of the English Speaking Union as well as Toastmaster's International. Some of the projects he hopes to be remembered for is producing a Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Winter Park and organizing and supplying University Club members to Rollins College as classroom support to the professors. He is survived by daughters Lee Ann Johnson with husband Corbin, Sue Ann Leone with husband Cal, and grandchildren Julianne, Reed, Meredith and Grant. A private family Memorial Service will be held at the Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. Donations may be made to the Winter Park University Club in Mr. Rosenthal's memory.
