Etta Showalter

Etta Showalter, 93, went to be with her Lord, November 14, 2015. Born in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania to Nathan S. and Rhoda Mary DeShong, on June 3, 1922, Etta was mostly raised in the Altoona, PA area. Etta received her degree in 1943 as a registered nurse and had for a period of time worked at John Hopkins Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 to C. E. "Buzz" Showalter who passed in 2013 and her daughter Carole Mitchell. Etta is survived by her Daughter Susan Arnold: Son-In-Law Dr. John Arnold, grandchildren Jeffery Arnold, Stacey Porter, (Scott Porter), David Mitchell, Jr., great grandchildren; Naomi and Sarah Porter. A Gathering of Friends is scheduled for Thursday, November 19th from 5 to 7 PM at the Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida 32806. A Celebration of Life service is planned for Friday, November 20th at 2:30 PM at First United Methodist Church, 142 E. Jackson Street, Orlando, Florida 32801 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Etta's memory to First United Methodist Church.
